Medicare Advantage (Part C)
A private Medicare-approved plan that provides your Part A and Part B benefits.
How does it work?
You still have Medicare, but receive your covered benefits through the plan. Most plans also include Part D prescription coverage.
What should I check first?
- Doctors: Non-emergency care may require network providers. Specialist referrals may be required.
- Approvals: The plan may need to approve some services before you receive them.
- Prescriptions: Check your medicines and pharmacies against the plan’s coverage.
What does it cost?
You generally keep paying your Part B premium and may pay a plan premium. Copayments, deductibles, and coinsurance vary.
Review the costs you may pay when you use care.
Plans limit your yearly spending for covered Part A and Part B services. Premiums and Part D drug costs do not count toward that medical limit.
Are extra benefits included?
Some plans offer dental, vision, or hearing benefits. Coverage limits, eligibility, and availability vary by plan and location.
Before choosing a plan
Check the provider network, prescriptions, medical cost limit, and travel coverage. Medigap cannot cover your Advantage costs.
